The Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort offers a fun time for the advanced golfer as well as the novice. The course was extensively renovated in 2002 from tees, to greens, to bunkers, to fairways, to the lagoons. The renovation work was overseen by Roger Rulewich. This course is unique to the island in that it comes into play with the 11-mile lagoon system that winds around the Palmetto Dunes development.
Today, the lagoon system winds its way through 11 of the golf course's 18 holes. When the renovation was completed, the Jones Oceanfront Course was named the 2003 Golf Course of the Year by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association.
The Jones course also has one of only two golf holes on Hilton Head Island that carries right up the the Atlantic Ocean. This signature par-five #10 hole offers golfers a spectacular panoramic view of the ocean while putting on the green.
The course is popular with visitors and residents alike and consistently selected as one of the locations for the annual Hilton Head Celebrity Golf Tournament. From the middle white tees, the Jones Oceanfront Course plays 6,122 yards.
