– October 6, 2012 – Hounds on the Harbour

Hounds on the Harbour at Harbour Town in Sea Pines. “American Fido” contest with dogs competing as best “singer.” 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Frisbee catching dog exhibition at 11:30 ; 12:30; and 1:30. Specially trained dogs performing on an agility course.

Beaufort Shrimp Festival. At Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort, SC (45 minutes from Hilton Head). – October 13, 2012 – Chili Cook-off sponsored by the Kiwanis Club

28th Annual Kiwanis Club Chili Cook-Off at Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn from noon – 4 p.m.  This year’s event features 25-30 restaurants and will focus on local chili cooks in the professional and amateur category with separate awards for each.  Live entertainment and an area with free children’s games and activities including a water slide. Burgers & Brews Fall festival at Shelter Cove Park. Noon – 6 p.m.
Numerous local restaurants, many of which will compete to prepare the best slider. Not just hamburgers…chickenburgers, shrimpburgers, crabburgers, and more! People’s choice award for best burger.
